Annual Competition
Entries must be post marked by Monday, April 2nd 2012
Eligibility: Open to all students attending grades K-12 (age 6 - 18) throughout the world.
Requirements: Composers must read and abide by Competition Guidelines and Regulations.
Compose a piece of choice in one or more categories defined below within your division.
Competition Guidelines and Regulations:
- TWO copies of an original score must be sent with each entry form; ¡°charts¡± will not be
- accepted.
- CD or other recordings will not be accepted.
- Please be particularly careful to enter your composition into the correct category.
- Measures MUST be numbered on each score submitted.
- All compositions should be bound, and double-sided.
- Do NOT put composer¡¯s name or dedication on any page of the score.
- Composer and parent/or guardian MUST sign the entry form.
- A separate entry form and fee for each composition is required.
- A signed copy of the PPYC Permission Request (above) must be sent with each entry.

The judging Form contains space for critique as well as the following points (out of 100) totals:
Style and Form - (up to 40) �including:
1) Title - originality and/or suitability
2) Organization of piece
3) Repetition and contrast
4) Balance, dynamics, articulation
5) Appropriate use of instrument(s)
1) Texture
2) Voice leading
3) Modulation and Development
4) Appropriate cadences
1) Correct musical notation and layout
2) Overall appearance
Judging: The decisions of the judging panel are final. All entrants receive a written critique and a certificate.
One copy of the score is returned with the critique and certificate.
Awards
First Place, Second Place and Third Place awards are available in all divisions and categories, as well as First and Second Honorable Mention �a total of up to five awards in each division category - as the judges deem necessary.
